Two second half strikes ensured that Bafana Bafana of South Africa beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their first encounter of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The first half ended in a goalless draw but Tokelo Rantie broke the deadlock with a great header from inside the box after a decent cross by Mphahlele on the right hand side.
Percy Tau scored the second with his first touch of the game after beating the offside trap.

This result makes it the first time Bafana Bafana would beat Nigeria in a competitive match. The defeat is much more painful as it happened on home soil (at the Uyo Stadium in Akwa Ibom state).

South Africa also stopped the Eagles from qualifying for the last AFCON.
